The government, law enforcement and the scientific community, provide a necessary public service. We often forget that these are human institutions with human beings operating them. Even if the institutions are sound, are humans infallible?
Knowing full well the imperfections and inclinations of the human condition towards corruption, would it not behoove us to ask and call into question the ideologies, trends, and actions of any institution that wields imposing power over us?
Time and time again, from authorities of antiquity to the current administration, we have been given reason to disbelieve those in power, yet now those with enough bravery and integrity to question the system and the status quo are branded defiant or worse yet, “conspiracy theorists.” God, even in His perfection, does not discourage healthy inquiry of His character. Look at His dialogue with Abraham.
Do we not have a responsibility to ourselves and to those around us to insure that decisions being made over us are being made for us? Shouldn’t we, at the very least, inquire, research, and validate the claims of those in positions of leadership; if for no other reason than because of their positions and authority?
